Life Sciences Technology Practice Group -
Devices, Diagnostics, & Distribution Sector |
|
New medical technologies and breakthroughs have led to the use of gene-based
diagnostics in the detection of diseases. These new diagnostics, driven by
genomics and imaging technologies, are leading to a new area of interest,
Theranostics. These new tools and therapies will have an impact on the evolving
demographics.
Devices that utilize biotechnology are having an impact on the use of more
traditional cardiology procedures. New interventional technologies and
procedures in particular in the areas of minimally invasive surgery may reduce
the use of some traditional techniques. The convergence of medical devices and
pharmaceuticals will challenge traditional protocols and create new marketing
opportunities along with challenging operations and regulatory issues. New
product developments and/or acquisition will speed the development and
implementation of these new technologies.
