Ed Flowers serves as Executive Vice President and Managing Director in the firm’s Atlanta, Georgia office.
Mr. Flowers brings with him over 25 years as a human resources professional in the Consumer Package Goods, Non-Profit, Housing, Life Sciences, Advanced Technology and Sports industries. He has experience as a human resources generalist in a range of specific areas including human resources strategy, acquisition integration, executive compensation, organizational design and development, talent management/succession planning, executive coaching and performance management.
Prior to joining DHR International, Mr. Flowers was the Corporate Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Russell Corporation (acquired by Berkshire Hathaway). There, he was responsible for the overall global human resources function for the corporation reporting to the CEO.
Previous to Russell, Mr. Flowers was the Global Vice President of Human Resources for Merisant Company, the maker of Equal Sweetener, which was spun off from Monsanto Company in 1999. He served as Vice President of Strategic Staffing and Vice President of Human Resources for Monsanto’s Agriculture Sector and Dairy SBU’s where he was responsible for their global human resources. Previous to Monsanto, Mr. Flowers was in several senior level roles at Unisys Corporation for 10 years in Detroit, MI, and Bluebell, PA.
In the marketplace, Mr. Flowers is viewed as a skilled business executive with extensive HR expertise. He has successfully placed C-level executives at numerous corporations and organizations and also has the ability and experience to build high performance management teams for progressive corporations, including several community-based service organizations. He has worked strategically with both public board of directors and private equity structures bringing expertise in executive compensation, succession planning, acquisition integration processes and organizational design.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Mr. Flowers holds a BA degree in History with a minor in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He has also completed an Executive Management Program at Wharton School of Business and Executive Human Resources Program at the University of Michigan.
Mr. Flowers is a current member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a coalition of some of Atlanta’s most influential men organized to empower Atlanta’s challenged communities. He serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (Atlanta Chapter) and is a Board Member at The University of Missouri-St. Louis serving on the Chancellor’s Council. He is also currently serving as a sitting board member for several not-for-profit organizations, including American Diabetes Association, St. Louis Chapter; Boys Hope Girls Hope, Inc.; and St. Louis Transitional Hope House. Previously, Mr. Flowers performed as Vice Chairman of the United Way and Chairman of the African American Partnership for Atlanta.
Mr. Flowers resides in Atlanta with his wife Kathy, daughter Jasmine and son Alex.
