James McFadzean serves as Executive Vice President and U.S. Practice Leader, Advanced Technology Practice for DHR International, operating out of the firm’s Silicon Valley office.
Prior to joining DHR, Mr. McFadzean was Vice President in the Technology practice, as well as the Board of Director practice with Rusher, Loscavio & LoPresto. Before his role with Rusher, Loscavio & LoPresto, Mr. McFadzean founded two executive search firms: McFadzean & Associates and Holland, McFadzean & Associates, which was acquired by Ray & Berndtson. Subsequent to its acquisition of Ray & Berndtson, he served as Vice President in the Technology practice at A.T. Kearney.
Mr. McFadzean has more than 25 years experience placing senior-level executives in Board of Directors, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Legal and Sales at start-up, emerging growth and established companies. This includes portfolio companies for Venture Capital firms such as Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, Mayfield Fund, Draper, Fisher, Jurvetson and Sigma Partners.
Mr. McFadzean has led senior executive search assignments for technology companies such as, SanDisk, Openwave, Juniper Networks, Seagate, Quantum, Sun Microsystems and Nortel Networks.
Mr. McFadzean received his Juris Doctor Degree in Law from Loyola University School of Law, Chicago, IL. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University, Chicago, IL. He also earned ISS-Certification at the Directors’ Consortium, an executive Corporate Governance training program specific to the Sarbanes-Oxley era – a joint offering from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business, Stanford Law School, and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. McFadzean serves on the Board of Directors at the Southwest YMCA of Santa Clara County. He is an Executive Committee member of SPLASH (Swimmers Promoting Los Altos Swimming and Health). Mr. McFadzean also led fund raising for the Los Altos Community swimming facility and is the past President and member of the Board of Directors for De Anza Cupertino Aquatics (DACA), a United States Swimming (U.S.S.) competitive swim club.
