Rick Walker serves as Executive Vice President and Managing Director in the firm’s Houston office. He is also a senior member of DHR’s Energy Sector, Financial Services, CFO and Board of Director Practices.
Prior to joining DHR in 2005, Mr. Walker spent 24 years working as a banker, principally focused on the energy sector. The bulk of Mr. Walker’s investment banking career was spent at JPMorgan and its predecessors as Managing Director in that firm’s Global Natural Resources Group. In his role as Managing Director, Mr. Walker was responsible for generating corporate finance solutions and delivering resources to provide clients with equity and debt capital financing as well as strategic advice.
Mr. Walker’s recent investment banking transaction experience includes the origination of more than $5 billion in M&A and strategic advisory assignments. Capital market assignments include book-run equity and equity-linked securities of over $4 billion together with numerous book-run, underwritten and arranged public and bank-syndicated debt market transactions. Representative past clients include E&P and integrated oil and gas firms such as Newfield Exploration, EOG Resources, Koch Industries and Shell Oil Company; midstream energy concerns such as El Paso Corp., Enterprise Products, Kinder Morgan and ONEOK as well as power-related clients like CenterPoint Energy, TXU and Westar Energy.
In addition to his service with JPMorgan, Mr. Walker gained three years of international experience managing an energy banking team in London for Bank of America predecessor, NationsBank.
Mr. Walker is currently serving on the Board of Directors of Venoco, Inc. (NYSE – VQ), a Denver based exploration and production company.
Mr. Walker is actively adding strategic value for the executive search needs of energy companies, private equity firms and corporate and investment banking clients
Mr. Walker received his BBA from Loyola University, New Orleans and his MBA from Bowling Green State University. He is also a licensed CPA in the State of Texas.
Mr. Walker and his wife of 25 years, Shana, are avid travelers and golfers and divide their time between Houston and the Texas Hill Country.
