John McLean serves as Executive Vice President in the firm’s Chicago office and Managing Director of DHR’s Minneapolis office. Recognized internationally for his success on multiple assignments at some of the largest Fortune 500 companies, he has conducted worldwide searches for CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, CTOs, Presidents and senior executives.

His search practice focuses on life sciences technology, healthcare, consumer products, industrial, advanced technology, media and financial services industries. John is a co-founder of the firm's Life Sciences Technology practice group and brings over 25 years of experience as a respected healthcare industry executive and management consultant.

Representative clients include 3M, Abbott Laboratories, Cardinal Health, American Medical Systems, Navistar (International Harvester), Dentsply, Sysmex, Innoware, Production Services Associates, Gaymar Industries, Randall Manufacturing, Keystone Consulting, and Vera Bradley.

Mr. McLean works closely with many private equity firms including Norwest Equity Partners, Nautic Partners and Sage Capital on numerous assignments for their portfolio companies.

Prior to joining DHR, Mr. McLean spent over nine years in consulting at Hewitt Associates and in his own practice working with clients such as Sony, Mitsubishi, Harley Davidson, Ameritech and Sky Financial Group. Mr. McLean also has over 14 years experience in Senior Sales and Marketing roles with Johnson & Johnson and American Hospital Supply, and was SVP/Partner of Orthodontic Research and Equipment Corporation.

Mr. McLean co-authored “A Study of Account-Based Sales Teams” and “Human Resource Trends in Consumer Products Sales Organizations.” He was also keynote speaker for the Bank Compensation Symposium on “Incentive Compensation: Strengthening the Link between Pay and Performance” and Crowe-Chizek’s Presidents Forum on “Sales Compensation.”

Mr. McLean is also Ombudsman and Member of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Alumni Association and Co-Fundraising Chairman for the Grammy Foundation in Chicago supporting music education in schools. He has also served as President of the school board and AYSO soccer coach.

Mr. McLean has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in marketing from St. Cloud University. He and his family reside in Lake Forest, Illinois.
